Autumn Touches: Shelf Styling Edition

I know it is August and still technically summer, but I am ready for fall and the excitement that season brings for me. There is just something about the change of the season that ignites a fire in me to get things moving. It may be the fresh pencils that are stacked in the stores and the idea of back to school. Each year I just get a jolt of energy to create and start fresh.

With the arrival of fall still a bit away I have been adding some touches here and there to welcome it. Switching up your shelves is one of the quickest ways to freshen up a room. I was inspired by autumn colors and textures. Check out below for a few tips to shelf styling.

  • Start with a color palette and collect objects that reflect that

  • Lay them out and see what is speaking to you

  • Have a mix of sizes and shapes to add visual interest

  • Clear off the shelves and start placing pieces back on them

  • I love the rule of three, grouping three pieces together in different sizes shapes and textures

  • Step back take a look, see what you are liking, and what you aren’t

  • Adding a lamp brings in that warm and cozy touch. If you don’t have an outlet no problem, place a puck light inside and click it on!

  • Have fun and play around with it (I move things around constantly until I feel that it is right to me)

To add fall touches I used dried florals, , wood and ceramics, and a curiosity cloche that I make. Shop dried florals, vintage ceramics, and mini curiosity cloches here! Lets welcome in the new season and have fun with all that it brings.
